The Banquet Captain forSettlers Hospitality assists with the supervision of all aspects of a banquet or an event, located at any one of our properties. They are responsible for training and evaluating the banquet employees. Aside from assisting with the orchestration activities among different departments, banquet captains make sure that customers have a satisfying dining experience.


The following are the duties of a banquet captain: carries out details for banquets; trains banquet staff; arranges dining reservations; communicates with kitchen team regarding timing on food, etc.; responds to complaints regarding food or service; monitors the work of the employees of an event they are captaining; ensures service staff are taking care of their guests in a timely and customer-service-oriented fashion.


Most companies stress personal traits when employing managers. Those who are trustworthy and possess management qualities are highly preferred. Other traits that employers look for are the ability to pay attention to details and problem-solving skills. Having a clean and neat appearance is crucial, because banquet captains must express confidence and show respect in dealing with people. Captains must also be excellent communicators because they deal with different kinds of people most of the time.
