Abingdon School is looking to appoint an organised and proactive administrator to join our friendly HR team as a HR Administrator.

Location: Abingdon Foundation, OX14 1DE

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: £28,482 - £30,701 per annum

About Us:       

The Foundation comprises two schools: Abingdon School and Abingdon Prep School, as well as Abingdon School Enterprises. Abingdon School is a leading independent day and boarding school with more than 1,000 pupils aged 11-18. Currently a boys’ school, it will become co-educational from September 2026.  Abingdon Prep School is a vibrant and warm day preparatory school with around 200 pupils aged 4-13 which has been co-educational since last year. Both Schools are situated in beautiful and extensive grounds, with the senior school in the heart of Abingdon on Thames, just south of Oxford, and the Prep School located a few miles away in nearby Frilford.

HR Administrator - The Role:

The HR Administrator will play a key role in managing and supporting a wide range of administrative tasks including arranging and recording all mandatory staff training on a HR Information System (HRIS), and administering and recording contractual and pay and benefits related matters paperwork.

HR Administrator - Key Responsibilities:

- To maintain the relevant databases with starters, leavers and role changes

- As required, to participate in interview days involving welcoming and meeting candidates, checking their identification and qualification documentation and escorting candidates from their observed lesson, interview

- To support the Recruitment Administrator with recruitment and onboarding administration

- To provide comprehensive administrative support to the HR Department

HR Administrator - You:

- A good standard of education

- Good IT skills, including standard office IT programmes

- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to take initiative and think creatively to resolve challenges

- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a professional, friendly and approachable communication style
