Teacher of Chemistry

Location: Winchester, Hampshire
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (0.8 FTE or above considered)
Start Date: January or April 2026

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Chemistry to join a high-achieving and well-resourced science department at a leading independent school. The role offers the opportunity to teach motivated students across Key Stage 3, IGCSE and A-Level, within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

*

Plan and deliver engaging, interactive lessons that inspire curiosity and academic excellence in Chemistry.

*

Use practical experiments, demonstrations and multimedia resources to enhance understanding.

*

Monitor and assess student progress, providing clear feedback and support for improvement.

*

Work closely with the science technician team to ensure safe and well-organised laboratory sessions.

*

Contribute to departmental planning, marking and exam preparation.

*

Communicate effectively with parents, pastoral teams and colleagues to support each student’s academic and personal development.

About You

*

A degree in Chemistry or a closely related subject.

*

Teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) preferred, or a willingness to work towards one.

*

A passion for Chemistry and for inspiring young people to achieve their full potential.

*

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

*

Enthusiastic, professional and committed to continuous improvement.
