Job Title: Technical Sales / Applications Engineer
Location: Tiverton, Devon
Salary: Up to £34,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, Office-based
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (typically 8:30am – 5:00pm)

Are you a technically minded engineer with a passion for solving problems and supporting customers?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Sales / Applications Engineer to join a well-established engineering team in Tiverton. This role is ideal for someone with a mechanical engineering background, strong CAD skills, and a desire to combine technical knowledge with customer interaction.

The Role:

As a Technical Sales / Applications Engineer, you will:

Work directly with customers to understand their technical needs and recommend suitable product solutions.
Provide technical support and guidance through phone, email, and video conferencing tools like Teams or Zoom.
Prepare costings, quotations, and technical drawings to support project proposals.
Design mechanical assemblies including linear systems, gantries, and aluminium frameworks using SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD software).
Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth order processing and accurate documentation.
Handle multiple enquiries simultaneously, managing your time and priorities effectively.
What We’re Looking For:

Qualifications: Ideally HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering, but strong CAD skills and relevant experience will be considered.
Software Skills: Proficient in SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD), Microsoft Office, and confident using ERP/CRM systems (e.g., Syspro and Sugar CRM – training provided).
Communication: Excellent telephone manner, email communication skills, and confidence in video calls.
Organisation: Strong time management skills and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
