Commercial Manager

Salary – £44,000 - £55,000
Hours – 37.5 hours per week, 8.30am-5pm
Location – Darrington Quarries Limited, Leys Lane, Knottingley, WF11 0AH

As a Commercial Manager at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for managing and developing all commercial elements of the Darrington quarries business. This includes overseeing the sales office, developing new business opportunities, maintaining key accounts, and ensuring efficient order processing and customer service. You will play a critical role in delivering customer satisfaction while optimising pricing and product mix to ensure profitability.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?

- Leading and developing the commercial operations of the quarrying business
- Managing, developing, and motivating a sales office team
- Overseeing accurate and efficient order processing from enquiry to invoicing
- Developing and growing new and existing business opportunities
- Maintaining key accounts and customer relationships
- Delivering pricing strategies and managing quotations and tenders
- Monitoring performance of haulage contractors and ensuring delivery efficiency
- Working closely with site and transport staff to match production with demand
- Ensuring all commercial activity aligns with company objectives and budget
- Monitoring and reporting on KPIs, and contributing to strategic planning

What are we looking for?

- Proven sales and managerial experience within Quarrying or Recycling
- Strong knowledge of aggregates, recycled products, and civil engineering specifications
- Experience in inert waste acceptance and recycling operations
- Confident in IT systems – Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- The ability to manage change, build high-performing teams, and drive commercial success
- Previous experience influencing internal and external stakeholders at a senior level
- Strong customer focus and commitment to continuous improvement
