Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting an experienced Attendance Officer to join a welcoming and well-supported primary school in Burnley. This is a part-time position starting in November 2025, with the possibility of an earlier start for training. With the potential hybrid flexibility, this role provides a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on pupil attendance and engagement across the school.

About the Role:
In this vital role, you will take a lead in monitoring and improving pupil attendance across the school. You’ll be responsible for ensuring attendance procedures are followed accurately and efficiently, working closely with pupils, families, and staff to identify and address attendance concerns. Your role will directly contribute to improving pupil outcomes and maintaining safeguarding standards across the school community.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to supporting pupils’ engagement in education.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitoring daily attendance and maintaining accurate records

*

Using CPOMs or similar safeguarding systems to track attendance patterns

*

Liaising with parents/carers regarding pupil absences or concerns

*

Supporting the school’s attendance policies and protocols

*

Working alongside school leaders and external agencies where appropriate

*

Preparing attendance reports and contributing to wider safeguarding discussions

*

Promoting the importance of good attendance across the school community

The Ideal Candidate Will:

*

Have prior experience in a similar role or strong knowledge of attendance procedures

*

Be confident using CPOMs or similar systems

*

Have a sound understanding of school attendance regulations and DfE guidance

*

Be able to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues

*

Be highly organised, resilient, and able to manage a busy workload

*

Have excellent written and verbal communication skills

*

Be proactive and solutions-focused, with a genuine interest in supporting pupil success
