Literacy Subject Lead (Permanent Contract)
Uxbridge, West London
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance + TLR2
Start date: ASAP /Jan 2026

An inclusive and specialist school in West London is seeking an experienced and motivated Literacy Subject Lead to join their middle leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an SEN teacher with leadership experience to make a meaningful impact by shaping the delivery of English and Literacy across the school.

About the Role

As Literacy Subject Lead, you will inspire both students and colleagues by driving high standards in teaching and learning within English and Literacy. You will take responsibility for planning, coordinating, and quality assuring the curriculum, ensuring lessons are engaging, structured, and accessible for students with a wide range of needs.

The school offers a person-centred curriculum designed for children and young people with severe to complex learning difficulties, communication and sensory processing challenges, and associated behaviours. As part of the middle leadership team, you will work collaboratively with staff, families, and professionals to ensure every student has access to meaningful learning opportunities that support both academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, plan, and coordinate the Literacy curriculum across the school.

Quality assure teaching to ensure consistent, effective delivery of Literacy.

Provide support, guidance, and inspiration to colleagues in delivering the subject.

Deliver engaging lessons tailored to the diverse needs of students.

Contribute to the wider leadership of the school community.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Have experience teaching in a special school or SEN setting.

Demonstrate proven experience leading and coordinating Literacy/English as a subject area.

Be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and a collaborative approach.

Bring creativity, resilience, and a passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
