Job Title: School SEMH Teaching Assistant - Romford

Location: Romford, London
Salary: £90 - £105 per day
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: As Soon As Possible

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient school SEMH teaching assistant to join one of our supportive schools in Romford. This rewarding role involves working with pupils across KS3 and KS4 who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, within a mainstream secondary setting or an alternative resourced provision.

As a school SEMH teaching assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils to manage their emotions, develop coping strategies, and engage positively with learning. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to ensure every child receives the support they need to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

Assist teachers in implementing tailored learning and behaviour support plans.

Build trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, understood, and valued.

Encourage personal growth, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.

Support pupils in developing social and communication skills in line with school expectations.

Requirements:

Experience working with young people with social, emotional, or mental health challenges.

A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to work effectively within a team.

Commitment to supporting pupils in the Romford area.
