Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Monmouth

Are you an experienced and caring professional with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? A small but growing SEN school in Monmouth is seeking a full-time Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their friendly and dedicated team. This is an inspiring opportunity to make a real difference to the life of a pupil with autism, helping them to grow in confidence, develop key skills, and enjoy learning in a supportive and nurturing environment.

The school is celebrated for its inclusive ethos and personalised approach to education. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in providing consistent one-to-one support for a pupil with autism, as well as contributing to the wider classroom environment. You will use empathy, creativity, and strong communication skills to help the pupil engage with learning and build positive relationships.

The successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant will be joining a warm, collaborative team that values every member’s contribution. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about SEN education and wants to be part of a school that is growing and making a real difference in the community.

What we’re looking for

To succeed as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you should:
• Hold HLTA status or have substantial experience supporting teaching and learning in schools
• Have experience supporting pupils with autism or other additional learning needs
• Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Be patient, adaptable, and proactive in your approach to learning support
• Collaborate effectively with teachers and other professionals to ensure high-quality provision
• Bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education
