Established for over 80 years, the company is a highly successful and adaptable business specialising in civil engineering, highways, and surfacing projects across the South West England and South Wales. They are seeking a proactive, results-driven commercial professional to drive value, ensure contractual compliance, and shape the financial success of a diverse portfolio of projects.

About the Role

As an Estimator Surveyor, you’ll be a key team member pricing and financially managing a number of high-quality, cost-effective civils projects, managing all commercial and contractual aspects to deliver exceptional value to clients. From developing precise cost estimates and tender submissions to negotiating contracts and providing accurate financial forecasts, you’ll ensure profitability and project success. You’ll work closely with delivery teams, suppliers, and stakeholders, fostering inclusivity and driving innovative, flexible solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee commercial and contractual elements, including contract administration (NEC, JCT, ICE), valuations, variations, CVRs, payments, and final accounts.

Prepare accurate cost estimates, tender submissions, activity schedules, and forecasts for highways and civil engineering projects.

Lead procurement processes, securing competitive quotations and selecting top-tier suppliers and subcontractors.

Conduct cost reviews and value engineering to optimise project costs and enhance profitability.

Negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Deliver clear, timely financial reports and forecasts.

Build strong relationships with delivery teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.

What's required for the role:

Qualifications: Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related field.

Experience: Proven experience as an Estimator Surveyor in civil engineering and highways projects.

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of NEC, JCT, and other standard contract forms, with demonstrable expertise in estimating and tender preparation.

Software Proficiency: Expertise in MS Excel and estimating software.

Results-driven, with the ability to work to occasional tight deadlines.

Outstanding communication and negotiation skills to build trust-based relationships.
