Full-time | Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm
Start Date: After October Half-Term
Contract: Long-term role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a small, friendly primary school in Hackney after the October half-term. This is a full-time, long-term role working one-to-one with two pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Year 1 and Year 3.

The Role:

You will be supporting two children with ASD who require tailored, consistent support to access learning and daily routines. One of the pupils is non-verbal, so experience working with children who communicate using alternative methods is essential.

Your role will include:

* Providing 1:1 support for pupils in Year 1 and Year 3 with ASD, helping them to engage in classroom activities and reach their individual learning goals.

* Using alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or other visual and sensory tools to support a non-verbal child.

* Assisting in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and contributing to progress reviews alongside the class teacher and SENCO.

* Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and communication development through positive reinforcement and structured routines.

* Helping to create a calm, nurturing environment where pupils feel safe, understood, and valued.

* Liaising regularly with the SENCO, teachers, and external professionals to ensure consistent and effective support.

* Assisting with classroom activities and adapting resources to meet each pupil’s needs
