Description



Our Networks, Integration and Automation (NIA) Department within the Transmission & Distribution global practice is looking for a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) & Automation Engineer in our Downtown Chicago office to serve as a technical lead for SCADA deployment projects, specifically in the pipeline and electric utility industries. The NIA department is quickly growing within both industries and expanding its clients, services, and business lines. The team is also developing an on-site, lab testing facility to showcase as a center of excellence.



In this role, the SCADA & Automation Engineer will be responsible for engineering design and technical oversight of multiple SCADA deployment projects. Major responsibilities for the SCADA Engineer will include:

Design SCADA systems utilizing client standards or developing new standards. Project deliverables may include:

points lists

device and/or PLC configuration files

equipment migration plans

bill of materials

engineering specifications

communication diagrams

ladder logic diagrams

cause and effect documents

equipment panel layouts

schematic and wiring diagrams

Participate in development of P & IDs, equipment and instrument packages

Identify and troubleshoot device communications using several different protocols

Implement SCADA systems using various different transports and protocols

Quality: create and maintain checklists to ensure quality control

Provide support to customers in field of expertise

Execute complex assignments requiring the use of advanced tools and techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods.

Identify, communicate and resolve issues on projects as needed.

Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.

Work with the project manager to establish project schedule and lead the engineering team to meet deadlines.

Work closely with the project team to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to clients satisfaction and that projects are following internal QA/QC guidelines.

Perform design quality reviews.

Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel to develop relationships with key client points of contact.

Prepare proposals and assist in presentations.

Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited program.

Minimum of 3 years related experience (completion of masters degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience)

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Must be capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.



Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineering (PE) registration.

Previous utility company and/or consulting experience.

Experience in the electrical, instrumentation, and control engineering for pipeline facilities such as natural gas metering and regulating stations, storage upgrades, and compressor stations.

Advanced knowledge of industrial standards and codes such as AGA, API, PIP ISO, NFPA, NEC, IEEE

Ability to perform risk management review (HAZOP, SIL)
