TEXO Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Case Maker for one of our external clients, a leading global logistics and forwarding specialist based in Blyth, Northumberland. Renowned for providing worldwide transport, distribution, and export packing services, the company is now looking to grow their skilled team.
Start Date: Asap
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Friday: 6:30am – 2:00pm + Overtime
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x (double time on Sundays)
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour (negotiable)
Benefits: Pension scheme, profit-related bonus and BUPA healthcare
Key Responsibilities
* Manufacture, assemble, and finish wooden, metal, or composite transport cases to specification.
* Accurately measure, cut, and prepare materials using both hand tools and machinery.
* Modify cases to meet client or shipment requirements, including custom dimensions, padding, and reinforcements.
* Interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, and packing instructions.
* Inspect completed cases to ensure durability, stability, and compliance with safety standards.
* Apply correct sealing, fastening, and weatherproofing techniques.
* Prepare cases for dispatch, including labelling, strapping, and palletising.
* Ensure goods are securely packed to prevent damage during transit.
* Liaise with logistics, warehouse, and shipping teams to meet delivery deadlines.
* Maintain accurate records of case production, repairs, and modifications.
* Operate woodworking machinery such as saws and cutting tools to required specifications.
* Assemble and finish products using a variety of hand tools, including hammers, drills, and screwdrivers.
Requirements
* Proven experience in producing wooden frames, crates, or similar wooden products.
* Background in carpentry, woodworking, or transport packaging is highly desirable.
* Competent in the safe operation of woodworking machinery (saws, planers, sanders, etc.)
* Skilled in the use of hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers, measuring equipment, etc.)
* Ability to accurately read and work from technical drawings, cutting lists, and packing specifications.
