Assembly Technician

Job Description:

The Assembly Technician will be responsible for the accurate and efficient assembly and testing of electro-mechanical instruments and air bearing assemblies. The role requires an understanding of general engineering principles, mechanical tolerances, and competency in using basic measuring equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret engineering drawings, understanding tolerances and critical dimensions.

Assemble complex sub-assemblies and instruments, with up to 150 components on a bill of materials.

Identify and troubleshoot faults or failures, contributing to solutions and continuous improvement.

Maintain cleanliness and precision in assemblies to ensure success during testing.

Work efficiently with attention to quality and output improvement.

Follow all health and safety procedures and risk assessments.

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum 5 years' experience in an engineering or assembly environment.

Background in electro-mechanical assembly preferred.

Knowledge of CNC machining, manual turning, and sheet metal processes.

Experience using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometer, digital caliper).

Skills in manual lathe operation and toolmaking (for one-off and bulk orders).

Experience with inspection tools and quality assurance standards.
