Hours: 37.5hrs per week plus 1 in 3 weekends

Our Laboratory Animal Science department comprises of several distinct animal facilities, each with a specific focus based on species and/or study type. The LAS team is made up of staff across various grades and levels of experience. Unlike many other establishments in the industry, our team members receive extensive cross-training and are proficient in a wide range of techniques and procedures across all species housed within the facilities.

Role Overview:

As an Animal Technician, your role will centre on performing regulated procedures such as blood sampling and dosing. However, husbandry remains a key part of the role – including feeding, watering, cage changing, and general care across a range of laboratory species.

You'll play a vital role in delivering high standards of welfare and enrichment, including positive reinforcement training and daily well-being checks. Your contribution will directly support the high-quality science we conduct.

An understanding of the legislation governing the use of animals in research is important, along with strong communication skills – you'll be sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with colleagues as part of a collaborative team.

At Sequani, we carry out a wide variety of regulatory toxicology studies, including reproductive and juvenile work. Our training programme is designed to build your confidence and capability across species and procedures, helping you become as skilled and versatile as possible.

Variable working hours, including participation in a weekend rota:

Weekend working: 1 in 3 weekends

A physically active role requiring reliable transport due to shift patterns and occassional out of hours work

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for individuals with a real passion for animal care, who are motivated, adaptable, and ready to make a difference through meaningful work.

A foundational understanding of animal behaviour, anatomy, and environmental welfare is essential -but don’t worry, we provide full training, even for those coming in with a degree.

Hands-on experience performing regulated procedures in a scientific setting

A genuine passion for animal care, with a strong commitment to the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement)

A team player who communicates clearly and collaborates effectively

Confident working independently and taking initiative when needed

Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to follow complex protocols precisely

A curious mind with a keen interest in the science behind our work

Flexible and adaptable, able to adjust to changing priorities

Willingness to provide occasional animal care, outside of standard hours

Self-driven and motivated to continuously learn and grow
