Description

Grower Supervisor | Southwest Norfolk

£14.00-£15.00 per hour DOE | 39 hours per week | Overtime & Benefits

Are you ready to step up and take on more responsibility in a fast-paced ornamental growing environment?

Picture this.

You're already hands-on in commercial horticulture. You know your way around tunnels, stock, and seasonal crops.

But what if you could use that knowledge to lead a small team, manage your own section, and develop your supervisory skills in a supportive environment?

What you'll be doing

As the Grower Supervisor, you'll be looking after three large tunnels and taking responsibility for the crops within them. You'll manage a small team, ensuring day-to-day tasks are completed to a high standard, while keeping timesheets and records accurate.

Your role comes with lots of variety, one day you'll be caning, tying and training plants, the next you'll be monitoring irrigation systems, preparing stock for orders, or supporting with biological controls. You'll also play a part in overcoming the challenges of peat-free production and ensuring the highest quality plants reach customers during peak sales periods.

You'll report directly to a senior manager who will provide regular feedback and support, but you'll still have the autonomy to run your section day-to-day and make the role your own.

What you'll need

Experience working with hardy nursery stock crops - lavender and choisya experience would be ideal, and a strong background in herbaceous perennials is is preferable.
Previous supervisory experience would be great, but ambitious growers looking for their first step up will also be considered.
Practical horticultural knowledge and a passion for growing.
The confidence to lead by example and support others in the team.

What's on offer

£14.00-£15.00 per hour (depending on experience).
39 hours per week with overtime opportunities.
31 days holiday (including bank holidays).
Weekend rota (1 in 3 or 1 in 4 weekends - mainly watering).
Seasonal working hours (slightly longer in summer).
A great opportunity to gain management experience, with scope to progress

What's next?

If you've got ornamental growing experience and are looking for that next step into supervision, this could be the role for you.
