Psychology Graduate – Manchester

Start your journey toward a career in Clinical Psychology with Forever Teaching

Are you a Psychology graduate or considering a change in direction towards mental health or therapy-based work? Are you looking for hands-on, practical experience in a specialist SEND setting to explore if Clinical or Educational Psychology is your future?

Forever Teaching is working in partnership with a fantastic specialist SEN school in Manchester that supports children aged 4–16 with Autism and a range of co-occurring neurodivergent conditions. We’re recruiting passionate and committed Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join their team — perfect for someone who wants to gain direct, meaningful experience before progressing to further study or training.

Why This Role Could Be For You:

Whether you're a recent Psychology graduate or someone considering a career switch into the world of mental health, this opportunity offers genuine insight into the daily realities of working with vulnerable children. If you're considering further study (such as a Master's in Clinical or Educational Psychology), this role is a chance to test your motivation and develop the essential skills needed to thrive in the field.

The Role:

* Support pupils aged 4–16 with Autism and a variety of support needs, from mild to complex.

* Work alongside children with conditions like ADHD, sensory processing differences, OCD, and communication needs.

* Help create and maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.

* Observe and contribute to therapeutic interventions such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and creative therapies including drama, art, and music.

* Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals to deliver tailored support and learning.

* Apply practical psychology-based techniques, including CBT approaches and sensory regulation strategies.

* Play an important role in emotional regulation and the development of coping mechanisms for young people.

* Assist with personal care where appropriate, promoting independence and dignity.

Who We're Looking For:

* Psychology graduates or individuals seeking to transition into a mental health or SEND career.

* People genuinely interested in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, or similar pathways.

* Individuals who are naturally empathetic, patient, and committed to supporting neurodiverse young people.

* Someone curious about how psychological theory plays out in a real-world school environment.

* Resilient, reflective candidates who can handle the emotional and practical challenges of the role.

* A commitment to the full academic year to ensure stability and consistency for the students.

What You'll Gain:

* Hands-on experience working within a specialist SEND setting.

* A strong foundation in Autism support and exposure to a wide range of therapeutic strategies.

* Valuable insights to inform your career or academic decisions in psychology or mental health.

* The potential to secure a long-term or permanent role in a specialist setting.

* The chance to make a real, lasting impact on children’s lives.

If you're serious about working in the field of psychology, mental health, or education — this is the ideal stepping stone. Apply now with Forever Teaching and take the first step toward a rewarding future
