Location: Swindon

Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 DOE + benefits

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

About the Company

We are working with a well-established and expanding MSP that supports a wide range of SME clients across the South West. Due to continued growth and an increase in client demand, they are looking to strengthen their service desk with an experienced 2nd Line Support Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled support professional who enjoys variety, problem-solving and providing first-class service in a dynamic environment.

The Role

As a 2nd Line Support Engineer, you’ll act as an escalation point for the 1st Line team, troubleshooting and resolving a wide range of technical issues. You’ll also get involved in project work such as migrations, upgrades and new technology deployments. The role offers plenty of scope to broaden your skills across cloud, networking, security and telephony.

Key responsibilities include:

Handling escalated tickets and providing 2nd line technical support to SME clients

Supporting and administering Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments

Troubleshooting networks, firewalls, VPNs, switches and WiFi

Assisting with cloud migrations, system upgrades, and backup solutions

Maintaining accurate documentation and asset records

Providing occasional onsite support in the local area

Mentoring junior team members and contributing to knowledge sharing

About You

We’re looking for a customer-focused support engineer with strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive attitude.

Essential skills & experience:

2+ years’ experience in a 2nd Line or similar technical support role

Good knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy

Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Intune)

Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, routing, VPN, firewalls)

Strong diagnostic skills and ability to resolve complex issues

Confident communicator with excellent customer service skills

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally when required
Desirable skills:

Experience with Hyper-V or VMware

Exposure to VoIP / hosted telephony solutions

Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices

Relevant industry certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL)
