This role could be based out of offices across the UK and worked on a hybrid basis.

The Role

My client is seeking a talented Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join their growing Net Zero Energy Practice. Ideally based in Birmingham, this role offers the flexibility to work from home and collaborate in the office, with other UK locations also considered.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your engineering skills to make a real impact on the UK's energy future. You'll work on projects that lower carbon emissions and improve energy security, spanning areas such as electricity transmission and distribution, gas and battery storage, green hydrogen, and more. From feasibility studies and front-end engineering design through to detailed design and structural assessments, no two days will be the same.

Key Responsibilities

You'll enjoy a varied workload, taking ownership of projects and supporting a multi-disciplinary team. Typical duties include:

Leading and mentoring junior engineers, providing guidance and technical expertise.
Managing the civil/structural engineering elements of projects from early optioneering to detailed design.
Preparing proposals, pricing works, and coordinating designs across disciplines.
Carrying out condition and structural assessments to evaluate reuse potential.
Preparing specifications and scoping documents, ensuring high technical standards.

About You

You'll be a motivated and versatile engineer with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Key attributes include:

MEng/MSc qualified Civil or Structural Engineer.
Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE) preferred.
Strong technical background in steel and reinforced concrete design to UK and international standards.
Experience in the electricity supply industry (HV substations) is desirable but not essential.
