Job – Arboricultural Asset Officer
Location: Harrow
Salary: £196.02 Per Day PAYE (Inc Holiday) | £250 Per Day Umbrella 
Contract: Full-time, Temporary Ongoing

We are delighted to be working in partnership with a Local Authority based in North West London who are looking to recruit an experienced Arboricultural Asset Officer to join their Community Directorate. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional in arboriculture to play a key role in shaping and managing the borough’s tree stock, ensuring the borough remains a green, safe, and vibrant place for residents and visitors.

The Role
As an Arboricultural Asset Officer, you will provide expert advice and professional support on all arboriculture-related matters across the Council. You will lead the implementation of their Tree Strategy, oversee the management of tree condition registers, and ensure the effective delivery of arboricultural services.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing the borough’s tree stock, carrying out inspections, surveys, and condition assessments.
Providing professional advice and technical expertise to internal teams, contractors, and community stakeholders.
Conducting risk assessments, managing dangerous trees, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Working closely with contractors to plan and programme proactive and reactive works.
Investigating and responding to customer service requests, complaints, and insurance claims.
Preparing reports, briefing notes, and contributing to legal and committee proceedings where required.
Keeping arboricultural databases accurate and up to date, while recommending improvements.
About You We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable individual with a strong background in arboriculture and experience working within a local authority or similar environment.

Essential skills and experience:

Proven experience in arboriculture functions, including contractor supervision.
Strong knowledge of the Local Government (Misc Provisions) Act 1976 and the Highways Act 1980.
Ability to prioritise workloads, work to deadlines, and remain calm under pressure.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and the public.
Confidence in handling customer queries, complaints, and insurance-related matters.
Ability to undertake site visits and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Full UK driving licence.
Qualifications:

Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent experience).
National Diploma in Arboriculture (or equivalent qualification).
