Head of Payment Operations

📍 Nicosia, Cyprus | 🕒 Full-Time | On-site with Some Flexibility | 📌 Permanent Position

A well-established and rapidly growing financial services provider is seeking an experienced Head of Payment Operations to lead and optimise its payments function. This is a key leadership role based on-site in Nicosia, offering some flexibility around working hours. The ideal candidate will bring deep operational expertise from within an EMI, fintech, or regulated financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage end-to-end payment operations, including transaction processing, reconciliation, and settlements

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and internal control requirements

Collaborate closely with internal teams (Finance, Compliance, Technology, Product) to streamline operations and improve efficiency

Identify and mitigate operational risks across payment channels

Build, lead, and develop a high-performing payments team

Act as a subject matter expert on payment flows, systems, and best practices

Candidate Profile

5+ years of experience in a senior payment operations role within an EMI, fintech, or financial services organisation

Deep understanding of electronic payment systems, settlements, and financial reconciliation

Holds a postgraduate qualification such as an MBA or professional accounting certification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CPA)

Proven leadership skills with the ability to build and manage teams

Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail

Based in or willing to relocate to Nicosia and work primarily on-site
