The role:

As the senior construction coordinator, you will be a member of the project management crew while assisting the resident engineer in administering construction contracts and support the development of projects.

A day in the life:

Coordinate inspection activities on multiple projects and assist resident engineer with scheduling manpower effectively.

Serve as a liaison to the other business lines on project scoping teams, project development teams and other construction related processes by providing technical expertise on construction concerns, design issues, long- and short-term needs.

Work directly with impacted local jurisdictions, property owners and businesses for resolution of project issues.

Coordinate a team of project management personnel to ensure assigned projects are being constructed in accordance with contract requirements and established policies and procedures.

Perform construction inspection duties as needed. Schedule, attend and communicate final inspection results on projects.

Monitor and ensure compliance with project safety procedures and methods as identified in ODOT standard specifications, ODOT policy and safety standards and procedures.

Track certification and training of crew members and provide input to the resident engineer for annual employee development plans.

May require long hours, differing shifts, periodic overnight travel and called out for emergencies any time, seven days a week, including holidays.

May require work with hostile contractors and the public.

Exposure to extreme hazards of traffic and construction equipment, and adverse weather conditions including storms, snow, ice and rain.

May require walking long distances in a shift on paved surfaces or on very uneven terrain.

Occasionally lifts 40-60 pounds.

What we need:

A bachelors degree in civil engineering or transportation-related engineering AND

Four (4) years of civil or transportation-related engineering experience.

OR

Seven (7) years of civil or transportation-related engineering experience. Two (2) years of this experience must have been field inspection or construction contract administration.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additionally, driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
