Defence Safety Engineer
Location: Bristol and Cheltenham
Salary £37,000 - £40,000 + excellent benefits package
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Safety Engineer to join our client covering Bristol and Cheltenham. As a member of the support engineering team, the safety engineer will be responsible for production and delivery of safety artefacts to support our defence and industry contracts.
The role:

Undertake work, as directed by the Safety & Environmental Lead Engineer, as part of the safety and environmental team.
Production of safety artefacts following the guidance in a range of applicable standards.
Delivery of safety projects to time cost and quality.
Follow the procedures in the DS Safety & Environmental Management System to the level of quality described in the Quality Management System.
Partake in Project Safety and Environmental Panels (PSEPs) - produce agendas, meeting arrangements minutes and precursor hazard reviews.
Write Minutes from Safety Meetings extracting the key changes for updates to the Safety and Environmental Case Reports (SECRs) and Equipment Safety Assessments (ESAs).
Undertake the Hazard Management Process.
Update SECRs and ESAs to reflect changes identified in design updates or during safety meetings.
Write new SECRs and ESAs.
Advise on aspects of Safety and Environmental engineering within their experience level.
Support bid processes by providing specialist technical input, as required
Performance Measures
The safety engineer is expected to deliver all outputs and artefacts to a high level of quality and meet specified deadlines.
You will be required to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge and familiarity with the following aspects:

MOD safety and environmental management processes
MOD Acquisition process (ASG)
POEMS, POSMS and emerging Defence Safety Authority Publications
Defence standards, regulations and guidance
UK legislative statutes
International and European Safety Standards (IEC 61508 & similar)
System safety engineering and associated practises
Functional safety engineering and associated practises
Risk assessment, evaluation management and acceptance.
Safety Management Systems (SMS)
Safety and Just Cultures

Requirements for the role:

Incorporated Engineer or working towards registration.
Academic qualification e.g. HND/BSc/BEng level qualification coupled with relevant defence and safety critical engineering experience
Capable of achieving a minimum of SC Clearance
