Long Term Futures is seeking a motivated Behaviour and Relationships Mentor with a sporting background to join a specialist SEMH school in Grantham, Nottingham. This setting supports learners aged 5 to 16 who have social, emotional and mental health needs and may have struggled in mainstream education. The school combines academic learning with strong pastoral care, helping pupils rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and re-engage with their learning.

If you've worked as a sports coach, PE assistant, or have experience in a sporting environment, this role offers an exciting opportunity to transfer your skills into education. The discipline, teamwork, and encouragement that sport demands are exactly the qualities we need to inspire young people in this setting.

What You'll Be Doing

Using coaching-style strategies to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups

Helping young people develop confidence, self-control, and resilience through structured routines and encouragement

Building positive, motivating relationships that inspire pupils to keep pushing forward

Promoting teamwork, problem-solving, and independence - both in and out of the classroom

Collaborating with teachers, pastoral staff, and therapists to support progress and wellbeing

Monitoring pupil development and adapting your approach to meet individual needs

What We're Looking For

Previous experience working with children or young people (e.g. sports coaching, mentoring, or education) - desirable but not essential

Strong communication and behaviour management skills, with the ability to remain calm and positive

A natural motivator who can lead by example and bring the best out of others

An interest in supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs

Knowledge of behaviour frameworks (e.g. Team Teach) is helpful, but not essential

TA qualification (Level 2+) is desirable but not required - your transferable skills matter most

Why This Role?

Opportunity to transition from sport into education and mentoring

Long-term to permanent position with clear progression

CPD training provided, including Behaviour Management & SEMH awareness

Supportive recruitment process, with trial days available

The chance to use your sporting expertise to change young lives
