Lead Mechanical Project Manager – Data centres - Berlin

Our client is a dynamic, fast growing data centre developer. They have grown rapidly, mainly through acquisitions, over the last few years and now operate 60 different sites across Europe. The organisation is still heavily in acquisition mode and are about to add a further 10-sites to their portfolio with advanced talks for others that may come to fruition over the next 12-18 months

Our client is about to embark on a series of upgrades, improvements, refurbishment and extensions to their existing German sites, and they are now seeking a Lead Mechanical Project Manager to join the team.

Responsibilities

* Design Development and Review (LP4–LP5):

Oversee the development and coordination of mechanical systems design, including HVAC, chilled water systems, and CRAC/CRAH units. Ensure compliance with client specifications, local regulations (DIN, VDI), and best practices for mission-critical environments.

* Construction Management and Site Execution (LP6):

Manage on-site delivery of all mechanical installations, supervising subcontractor activities and ensuring alignment with project drawings, quality standards, and safety protocols. Proactively address site issues, RFI responses, and clashes with other trades.

* Interface and Coordination with Project Stakeholders:

Serve as the lead liaison for mechanical systems between the client, consultants, contractors, and local authorities. Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination meetings and ensure transparent communication across all project stakeholders.

* Budget, Schedule, and Risk Oversight:

Maintain control over mechanical scope budgets, construction timelines, and procurement schedules. Identify and manage risks related to long-lead items, system integration challenges, and scope changes.

* Commissioning and Performance Validation:

Drive mechanical systems commissioning and functional testing, supporting the integrated systems testing (IST) process. Ensure mechanical systems meet operational performance benchmarks and that all documentation is prepared for turnover.

Requirements

* Must have 5+ years’ experience in a similar role

* Previous Data Centre construction experience is desired

* Must be German speaking

* Must have EU Passport or RTW in Germany
