Head of Year – Secondary School, Darwen (Temp to Perm)
Start Date: December 2025
Contract: Temporary to Permanent via Teaching Personnel

Are you an experienced and inspiring educator with a passion for pastoral care and student development? Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a well-respected secondary school in Darwen to appoint a Head of Year from December 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional to play a key role in shaping the academic progress, wellbeing, and behaviour of pupils across a year group.

The Role:
As Head of Year, you will:

Lead, manage and support the pastoral development of a designated year group.
Monitor and drive standards of behaviour, attendance, and attainment.
Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure every pupil has the opportunity to thrive.
Promote positive attitudes, resilience, and high aspirations among students.
Support whole-school initiatives and contribute to the wider life of the school.
About You:
We are looking for someone who:

Has prior experience in a pastoral leadership role (Head of Year, Head of House, or similar) within a secondary setting.
Demonstrates excellent communication, organisational and behaviour management skills.
Has a genuine passion for student wellbeing and achievement.
Can build strong, positive relationships with staff, pupils, and parents.
Contract & Pay:

Start Date: December 2025
Contract: Temp-perm through Teaching Personnel
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
