HSEQ Officer - Kilmarnock

The Company

Boyd Recruitment are currently working alongside a one of the leading companies operating in energy, renewable and telecommunication, who are looking to recruit a HSEQ Officer.

Our client’s core business largely focuses on the Transmission and Distribution Energy Sector and as HSE Officer you will work closely with the HSEQ Manager covering sites across the central belt of Scotland.

The Job

The purpose of this role is to ensure the Company’s health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and systems are followed by regular inspections and auditing. To be responsible for the provision and organisation of health and safety related training. To ensure that the Company takes all reasonable measures to provide a safe working environment for its employees, the public, contractors, and visitors.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities

To promote, develop and maintain a positive Companywide health, safety and environmental culture.

Conduct safety audits and site inspections in line with the company risk management policy with the objective of identifying hazards associated with the workplace, plant equipment or systems of work.

Report immediately any hazardous conditions to those responsible and keep records of all such inspections and hazards.

Prepare and deliver inductions, safety briefings and toolbox talks.

To ensure delivery of the company health and safety objectives, targets, positive performance and KPI’s.

To promote the company’s safety philosophy and awareness amongst all employees.

To ensure that personal protection equipment is to the correct standard and those employees are trained in its correct use.

Co-ordinate the overall safety approach onsite.

Report to the HSEQ Manager with Department Heads on matters pertaining to safety onsite.

Maintain and analyse site safety statistics.

Have a working knowledge and understanding of Safety statement and statutory regulations.

Ensure Regulations are reviewed, and site policies and procedures are updated accordingly.

Investigate occurrences and complaints of potential hazards and co-operate with the Client’s Safety.

Be involved in consultation in maintaining safety, health and environmental standards in the workplace and make representations as required at meetings.

To investigate accidents and ensure corrective action is taken to prevent reoccurrence.

Have detailed knowledge of emergency procedures in case of accident or fire and ensure they are maintained.

Ensure Emergency Preparedness and Response procedures are briefed to all employees and practiced onsite.

To be responsible for ensuring that all registers, records and documentation for health and safety are maintained.

The Person

The successful HSEQ Officer will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a previous HSE role. Proven responsibility for the safety of employees, and contractors in a previous role and experience of HSE in a Utilities construction environment would be an advantage.

Qualifications:

CCNSG Safety Passport – (Not Essential)

NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent – (NEBOSH Construction an advantage)

Membership of IOSH – (Not Essential)
