A long-established firm of Chartered Accountants, with over 10 years' presence in the local area, is seeking a motivated Senior Accountant to join their expanding team. The Leek office currently has a close-knit team consisting of a Director, an Admin, an AAT, and an ACA trainee. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while supporting the development of the new office.

The successful Senior Accountant will take responsibility for overseeing a portfolio of 40-50 clients across accounts and personal tax, with a small element of audit. You will also review work prepared by junior staff, provide mentoring, and assist with the smooth running of the office on a day-to-day basis. This is a hands-on position, ideal for someone seeking variety, autonomy, and progression in a supportive environment.

Senior Accountant Job Overview

Manage a portfolio of 40-50 clients across accounts and personal tax.

Handle a variety of work including accounts preparation, personal tax compliance, and a small element of audit.

Senior Accountant Job Requirements

Ideally fully qualified (ACA / ACCA), but part-qualified or qualified by experience will be considered.
Strong background in accounts preparation and personal tax compliance.
Experience in reviewing and mentoring junior team members.
Ability to oversee the smooth running of an office and manage client relationships.
Previous experience with small audits would be beneficial but is not essential.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Senior Accountant Salary & Benefits

Salary: £36,000 - £42,000 (dependent on experience)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times between 8:00am-6:00pm
Holiday: 20 days + 3 days at Christmas + 8 bank holidays
