MEP Engineer – Building Consultancy (Client-Side)
Location: London - Oxford Circus
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 + Quarterly Bonus + Benefits that include Skiing Trips, Healthcare, & Pension
The Company
A fast-growing, director-led building consultancy based in London is seeking an experienced MEP Engineer to join their expanding team. Founded by three senior leaders from a major independent consultancy, the firm has quickly established itself with a strong client base, repeat business from FTSE 100 landlords, and a reputation for delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions across commercial and industrial sectors.
The team currently numbers 10 and is involved in a wide range of services including project management, building surveying, and strategic MEP consultancy. With projects spanning London and the Midlands, including large-scale industrial assets and high-value refurbishments, the business offers a dynamic and rewarding environment for ambitious professionals.
The Role
This is a broad and varied role covering three core service lines:
1. Project Management Support
* Contribute to refurbishment projects of offices and industrial units (£3–£8 million)
* Write specifications and provide technical oversight on M&E systems
* Collaborate with project managers to ensure compliant and efficient delivery
2. Dilapidations & Pre-Acquisition Surveys
* Assess M&E condition of commercial and industrial properties
* Produce detailed technical reports for landlords and investors
* Advise on reinstatement obligations and exit strategies for tenants
3. Strategic Consultancy
* Support clients with long-term asset planning and compliance
* Work on large-scale industrial assets (e.g., 300,000 sqft warehouses)
* Provide insight into sustainability, energy performance, and building services optimisation
Candidate Profile
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in MEP design, surveying, and reporting
* Strong understanding of dilapidations and pre-acquisition survey methodology
* Excellent technical writing and stakeholder communication skills
* Comfortable working across multiple service lines and project types
* Degree in Building Services Engineering or related field
* Chartered or working towards chartership (CIBSE, IET, IMechE) preferred
Package & Culture
* Base Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 DOE
* Bonus: 15% of fees earned above 3x salary, paid quarterly
