Incumbent is expected to adhere to system and department compliance policies and any applicable laws and regulations. Maintains oversight of Respiratory Therapy and the inpatient Pulmonary patient care services. Management experience required Please submit a resume with your application * REQUIREMENTS * Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Graduate of an AMA approved school of respiratory therapy * 5 years of clinical practice * RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapy) license required * ACLS required * What you will do: * Clinical Practice: The Manager of Respiratory Therapy and Inpatient Pulmonary Patient Care Services demonstrates competent clinical practice utilizing a clinical decision-making process and critical thinking skills to effectively and efficiently deliver patient care with all healthcare providers across the continuum of care and problem solving skills to manage the patient care environment. Ensures excellence in patient care through interactions with patients and families, respiratory staff and other members of the health care team. Ensures the clinical competence of staff through direct interaction and observation, ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes and feedback from other members of the health care team. * Clinical Practice cont.: Maintains clinical competency, serves as a clinical resource for staff and may provide direct patient care. Keeps current with literature regarding changing practices, interventions and research in respiratory health care delivery. Attends appropriate educational forums. Actively participates in and supports service-based performance improvement efforts. Actively supports unit and hospital based quality, safety and patient satisfaction initiatives to meet identified metrics. * Leadership: The Manager of Respiratory Therapy and Inpatient Pulmonary Patient Care Services works within systems in order to accomplish patient, unit, departmental and institutional goals. Supports the ongoing development of staff through coaching, mentoring and role modeling. Supports change by ensuring appropriate support and resources to staff. Seeks opportunities to build working alliances with other professional groups. * Leadership cont.: Demonstrates excitement and enthusiasm in role and profession. Demonstrates skill to identify and manage conflict. Seeks guidance for appropriate resources in achieving unit goals. Sets expectations for behavior and communication on the unit and holds individuals accountable for their actions. * Collaboration: The Manager of Respiratory Therapy Services promotes an environment where open, honest communication allows for equality, shared responsibility and mutual respect. Fosters collaborative relationships. Role models effective communication styles. Participates in multidisciplinary forums in order to problem solve and facilitate planning. Seeks opportunities to build healthy relationships with others. Participates on departmental and hospital committees as requested. Provides timely feedback and evaluation to staff through formal and informal forums * Collaboration cont.: Sets performance expectations and provides ongoing, timely feedback both written and verbal to staff to achieve high performance. Values and supports inquiry and learning. Develops appropriate education and opportunities for the development of staff. Maintains staff annual competencies. Participates in divisional and organizational professional and leadership development activities. Acknowledges the contribution of others and nurtures them to change and grow. * Management of the Environment: The Manager of Respiratory Therapy and Inpatient Pulmonary Patient Care Services maintains open communication with departments who provide support services to clinical area to insure the appropriate level of service at all times. Participates in creating systems that monitor operational activities. Follows through on issues until resolution complete. Participates in the ongoing monitoring and analysis of resource utilization on the unit. Initiates adjustments in staffing and resource utilization in collaboration with the nurse manager to meet identified targets. * Management of the Environment cont.: Communicates and collaborates with staff on opportunities for and expectations of cost effective methods of delivering care. Is responsible for the budgetary process. Is responsible the process of selection of unit staff and ensures that all members are competent to fulfill their assigned responsibilities. Assists planning staffing to accommodate changing needs of the unit. Develops knowledge of and actively supports federal, state hospital unit accreditation agencies standards, politicizes and procedures and reimbursement concerns to direct patient care.
