Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Assistant/Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA) is responsible for providing comprehensive leadership, coordination, and assisting with the supervision of academic and education activities. The AVPAA will assist with assessment both formative and summative in collaboration with the Deans and faculty. The individual works in collaboration with the VPAA, Deans, and faculty to ensure compliance with Middle States Commission of Higher Education accreditation requirements. He/She will work collaboratively on program accreditation/development, instructional design, and enrollment management. The AVPAA will assist with development and implementation of policies, procedures and practices designed to ensure effective delivery of academic programs. He/She is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of student academic support services to increase retention and graduation. The AVPAA, in collaboration with the VPAA, is responsible for planning and supervising the improvement of academic programs, workshops and trainings, and faculty development initiatives.



The Assistant/Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs also coordinates college-wide articulation agreements and collaborative efforts with other institutions and the Baltimore City Public Schools. The AVPAA will work collaboratively the VPAA and with Student Affairs to develop dual enrollment and other special programs. In addition, the AVPAA collaborates with the Vice President for Academic Affairs on Strategic Planning initiatives and ensures a student-centered approach to academics in support of the Colleges mission. The AVPAA collaborates on the creation of the Learning Resource Center (formerly the library) to expand cocurricular learning and educational programming. He/She works collaboratively with the Institutional Research to support academic assessment, curriculum development, e-learning, articulation, and special projects. Additionally, the AVPAA may teach one class annually in a discipline. Reporting directly to the AVPAA is The Clarence Blount Child Care Center, the Learning Resource Center (Library), Articulation, and the Academic Center for Success.



RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES



RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:



* Reviews new academic courses/programs and the revision of existing courses/programs for the submission at the institutional, the local and the state levels.

* Supports the design and implementation for the assessment of academic programs and student learning outcomes.

* Works collaboratively to ensure compliance with the Middle States Commission of Higher Education accreditation requirements.

* Develops, implements and assesses student academic support services to increasing retention and graduation.

* Collaborates on the creation of the Learning Resource Center (formerly the Library)

* Provides supervision of Clarence Blount Child Care Center, the Learning Resource Center (Library), Articulation, and the Academic Center for Success.

* Collaborates with Student Affairs to support and provide oversight for the Dual Enrollment program.

* Provides leadership for the preparation of the catalog and other programmatic publications.

* Assists with the management of academic grants to support program development.

* Generates and shares enrollment reports with the Academic Deans and ensures effective scheduling and enrollment management.

* Collaborates to assess the progress of the realignment tasks and academic strategic initiatives.

* Prepares required reports and analyzes student progress and course data.

* Oversees articulation agreements and new partnerships with the local four-year institutions.

* Reviews adjunct faculty credentials and recommends for hiring at BCCC.

* Collaborates with other functional units on special academic initiatives and events such as commencement and faculty professional development.

* Develops relationships and maintains effective communications with diverse groups, internal and external, in support of the Colleges mission.

* Represents the College at functions as appropriate.

* Participates in community outreach, representing the College and promoting joint projects with civic, governmental, and business organizations.

* Other duties as assigned.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



* PLEASEUPLOAD A MINIMUM OF 7 PROFESSIONAL REFERENCES, INCLUDING WORK AND CELL/HOME PHONE NUMBERS, AS AN ADDITIONAL DOCUMENT

* Earned Doctorate required from an accredited university.

* Minimum of seven years leadership/ management experience at the Academic Dean, or Academic Administrative level at a university or college with a demonstrated pattern of success.

* 7-10 years of fulltime teaching in a discipline at a college/university

* An earned faculty rank at the Assistant Professor level or above.

* Experience with and knowledge of institutional and program accreditation processes.

* Experience with processes for course and program development.

* Possess a working knowledge of technology used in instruction and pedagogy.

* Experience with the evaluation process for institutional assessment of student learning.

* Experience in planning, coordinating, and on-going improvement of curriculum and instruction.

* Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



* Demonstrated success in articulating a long-term vision and strategic planning.

* Experience in development and oversight of academic policies.

* Experience leading and working with processes to revise college catalog, academic calendar, and scheduling.

* Experience with professional development and mentoring of both fulltime and part time faculty.

* Experience in analyzing data related to student learning outcomes and pedagogy.

* Demonstrated effectiveness in ensuring implementation of student learning outcomes and assessment of student learning.
