Our client, a prestigious grammar school, is seeking a Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to lead their thriving department from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate linguist to oversee the French, Spanish, and German curriculum, ensuring students across KS3 to KS5 develop linguistic fluency, cultural appreciation, and a love for languages.

As Head of MFL, you will provide strategic leadership, mentor a team of dedicated language teachers, and foster an engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to excel. Key Responsibilities

As Head of MFL, you will:

* Lead and manage the MFL department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all languages.

* Oversee curriculum planning, development, and assessment from KS3 to KS5, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practices.

* Foster a culture of excellence and enthusiasm for language learning, ensuring high student engagement and achievement.

* Support and mentor a team of language teachers, driving professional development and innovation in language pedagogy.

* Organize language enrichment activities, including cultural trips, exchanges, and extra-curricular clubs.

* Ensure strong examination results at GCSE and A-Level, supporting students to achieve their full potential.

* Work closely with school leadership to enhance the school’s MFL provision and global outlook.

Head of MFL – Experience & Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

* A degree-level qualification in French, Spanish, German, or a related subject.

* A formal teaching qualification with QTS (e.g., PGCE).

* Proven experience in teaching MFL at KS3-KS5, with a strong track record of excellent student outcomes.

* Previous experience in department leadership or curriculum development (or the potential to step into a leadership role).

* Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

* A passion for promoting language learning and cultural awareness.

* Legal right to work in the UK.

Location: Amersham, Buckinghamshire
