Job Title: Technical Manager

Location: City of London (Commercial site)

Salary: £65,000

Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM + on call

Are you an accomplished and highly client-focused Building Maintenance professional with extensive experience managing critical site operations, including complex UPS systems?

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and strategic Technical Manager to take full operational and commercial responsibility for a prestigious site in London. This is a pivotal, client-facing role requiring strong leadership, technical acumen, and a deep understanding of critical infrastructure.

The Role:

As the Technical Manager, you will be the key operational leader and the primary point of contact for our client on-site. You will be fully accountable for the end-to-end delivery of all building maintenance services, ensuring optimal performance, compliance, and budget adherence. Your key responsibilities will include:

Client Relationship Management:
Serve as the lead client liaison, building and nurturing a strong, trusted partnership.
Proactively manage client expectations, address concerns, and ensure all contractual obligations and service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently met and exceeded.
Conduct regular client meetings, provide comprehensive performance reports, and identify opportunities for service enhancement or value creation.
Operational Leadership & Delivery:
Take full accountability for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation and maintenance of all building services (M&E, fabric, soft services interface) on-site.
Oversee the execution of all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules, reactive works, and minor projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
Develop and implement site-specific operational procedures and emergency response plans.
Team Management & Development:
Lead, manage, recruit, train, and develop a high-performing on-site team of engineers and facilities operatives.
Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous professional development.
Manage team rotas, holiday leave, and emergency call-out arrangements to ensure robust site coverage.
Compliance, Health & Safety:
Ensure strict adherence to all relevant statutory regulations, British Standards, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs - if applicable), and company Health & Safety policies.
Be accountable for all aspects of health and safety on site, including risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), Permit-to-Work systems, and ensuring a zero-harm environment.
Prepare for and lead site audits (internal and external).
Sub-contractor Management:
Select, onboard, and manage external specialist contractors, ensuring their performance, compliance, and integration with site operations.

What We're Looking For:

Proven Experience: Significant experience (minimum of 5 years) in a supervisory/managerial role within the building maintenance or facilities management sector, specifically managing a critical or high-profile site.
Client-Facing Acumen: Demonstrable experience in managing high-level client relationships, with exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Technical Background: A strong understanding of M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) building services.
Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage technical teams effectively, including performance management and development.
Health & Safety: Excellent understanding and practical application of UK Health & Safety legislation. Relevant qualifications such as IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate are highly desirable.
Qualifications: Relevant technical qualifications (e.g., HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering or electrical bias)If you are a driven and experienced Site Manager with a strong technical background in critical systems and a passion for client excellence, we encourage you to apply.
