Our client is seeking a talented Principal Draughtsperson to lead and develop a skilled team while ensuring the delivery of top-quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards. This role provides an excellent opportunity to manage workflows, oversee complex CAD projects, and contribute to the continued success of the organisation.

As a Principal Draughtsperson, you will play a pivotal role in guiding a team, ensuring deadlines are met, and providing technical expertise in CAD design. Strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor junior team members are essential for success in this role.

This is a permanent position based near Hull, with excellent transport links from Bridlington, Beverley, York, and North Lincolnshire.

This opportunity is particularly suited to professionals within the engineering, civil, utilities, construction, and infrastructure sectors, especially those with expertise in CAD design, structural engineering, and draughting.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the production of high-quality engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
Manage a team of Senior Draughtspersons, Draughtspersons, Junior Draughtspersons, and Apprentices.
Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of engineering drawing projects, including Wire Clearance Diagrams, RC detailing, Steelwork detailing, Feasibility Drawings, and other essential CAD outputs.
Conduct quality assurance (QA/QC) checks across engineering CAD deliverables.
Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to resolve design issues and ensure feasibility.
Assist in developing CAD systems, best practices, and drawing office procedures.
Mentor and train team members, conducting regular performance reviews and development plans.
Manage document control processes, including drawing file management and transmittals. Key Requirements:

HNC/HND or equivalent in Engineering.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in an Engineering/Civil environment.
Extensive knowledge of MicroStation Connect, SolidEdge, NX, or Open Utilities Substation.
Strong understanding of industry-specific standards and Health & Safety/CDM regulations.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience in performance mentoring and coaching.
Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
Full UK driving license. Salary & Benefits:

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum
