JOB TITLE: Asset Manager, Team Manager

DEPARTMENT: Communities, Economy and Transport

LOCATION: Ringmer Depot

Purpose of the Role:

To lead and manage the Highway Asset Management Team to develop and deliver the Highway maintenance asset management strategy and plan for the highway network through the asset management system.
The Asset Management Team is responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the various assets that make up the highway network. Team functions include scheme identification using network intelligence and data to make informed decisions through long term strategic plans aligned with Council Objectives.
The post holder will be responsible for driving continued asset management maturity following best practice and getting the best from the technical experts in the team. working alongside external contractors and partners to deliver the Councils corporate objectives.

Key tasks:

Be the leader and figurehead for asset management in East Sussex Highway management, work to break down silos and improve collaboration and openness across the service from elected members, to colleagues, other stakeholders and term maintenance contract partners.
Manage a team of technical experts to deliver value for the council through long term strategies and plans
Take responsibility for ensuring effective resource management, including staffing control within the service area.
Coordinate service and external partners to achieve key deliverables in line with Council plan and priorities, delegating and empowering decision-making to the appropriate levels within teams as required.
Regularly undertake activities to engage and build trust with people involved in all areas of work, communicating complex information to a range of audiences.
Provide efficient leadership across the service area, adapting style to reflect the diverse needs of the team. Role modelling the use of coaching behaviours in performance conversations to identify goals, wellbeing and development needs.
Working collaboratively across the highway service and other council departments to lead on delivering asset management and plans through from implementation to delivery.
Keep up to date with best practice, providing and facilitating learning opportunities within their specific field
