Description

We are currently working with a school based in Surrey, to start September 2025 on a full time basis.
Job Purpose To lead the planning, delivery, assessment, and reporting of the KS3 and KS4 English curriculum and the Upper School Approach to Reading. Ensure that subject planning is sequential and fosters progressive learning. Assess and report on pupil achievement while promoting enjoyment of English and Reading.
Demonstrate subject expertise, innovative teaching, and close monitoring of targets and progression. Provide updates on the effectiveness of the English curriculum and reading initiatives to governors and external stakeholders.

Support the school’s aims, ethos, and safeguarding policies.

Plan and deliver the English curriculum with clear objectives and measurable outcomes.

Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress, providing termly updates and annual reports.

Promote English and Reading through assemblies, activities, and cross-curricular initiatives.
*
Build trust with parents, pupils, and staff through professional communication.
*
Maintain discipline and support a positive learning environment.
*
Engage in school improvement planning and contribute to enrichment activities.
*
Foster wider school values and aspirations.
Professional Standards
*
Keep records up to date, complying with policies and legal requirements.
*
Engage in professional development and contribute to the school’s strategic objectives.
Pupils Support pupils aged 7–16 with challenging behaviours and complex needs, fostering trust and engagement in education.
Working Conditions
*
Physical Demands: May require intervention using Team Teach techniques if necessary.
*
Environmental: Follow health and safety protocols and complete risk assessments as required.
Person Specification Qualifications & Training
*
Qualified Teacher Status and subject-specific degree.
Experience
*
Minimum of four years’ teaching experience, including involvement in school development planning.
Skills & Knowledge
*
Ability to analyse data, set targets, and support pupil progress.
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to inspire others.
Personal Qualities
*
Commitment to pupil wellbeing and safeguarding
