Digital Marketing Manager [Conversions and Monetization]

Marketing/Advertising jobs >> Sales & Marketing

Job Description

Marketing is at the core of what we do. Whether we are implementing strategies to grow our communities, helping our customers increase exposure for their property leads, or positioning a new training course to new real estate investors who need help with their first fix & flip, marketing touches most of our projects and user experience. As Digital Marketing Manager (Conversions and Monetization), you will own the lead conversion funnels that drive our business and bring new customers to our platforms. You will also lead monetization efforts through in-app purchases, product sales, and partnerships. You will have the opportunity to lead exciting projects and collaborate with an incredible team of highly focused, creative, and reliable colleagues (yeah, we’re really proud of our people!) You will also manage a team of marketing coordinator and interns and work closely with the Acquisitions Manager.

Ongoing responsibilities include:

  • Direct, plan, and oversee marketing strategies at product and company levels
  • Manage lead conversion funnels for all products in the REI family
  • Write copy and develop content to support conversion strategy
  • Manage and optimize email marketing strategy
  • Optimize, optimize, and optimize all touchpoints that lead to customer conversion
  • Track campaigns, build reports, present findings, and make recommendations based on KPIs (we’re big on making data-driven decisions, you should be too!)
  • Manage catalog product sales and develop campaigns to support them
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key partners and affiliates
  • Identify and amplify opportunities for new revenue streams and sales
  • Act as brand ambassador and spokesperson to our audience at large
  • Maintain awareness of market changes and adjust marketing strategy accordingly

Essential projects you will lead upon joining our team:

  • Audit and optimize email marketing strategy
  • Develop brand strategy and messaging following a platform rebrand
  • Develop and launch marketing strategy for several new entry level products and tripwires
  • Segment and optimize audiences based on interests; develop custom campaigns to cater to each
  • Develop and maintain editorial calendar to support conversion channels
  • Expand our network of partners and product catalog

At REI, we rely on data-driven marketing to inform direction and focus of the business. So while we value creative thinking, it is also important that you know how to use data analysis and metrics to measure performance and establish goals. Your job will be all about thinking outside the box and conceiving innovative ways to increase conversions (from free members to paying members), grow sales of digital products, and develop/package new products and features for our target audience. The candidate with the right mix of creative to objective thinking will thrive in this position.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a SaaS Marketing, CRO, or sales position
  • Experience building and optimizing sales funnels
  • Expertise in email marketing
  • Experience leading teams and building a productive, collaborative work culture
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stay organized and execute long-term projects
  • Local to Houston, TX

Strong Preference:

  • Experience in a SaaS or web-based service environment
  • Hands-on experience with information marketing
  • Familiarity with real estate investing (house flipping, rehabbing, rental portfolios, etc)
  • Basic web authoring ability (HTML, CSS, PHP)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and design concepts

  • Control Freak: I need somebody who can devise a plan and execute it by making sure everyone else sticks to it. I do not want somebody that’s super sweet like “I’m a gummy bear. I’m so happy! I’m sticky sweet from my head to my feet and happy no matter what!” NO! I want somebody who’s like “HEY! This is what I need. Get it to me!” And everyone’s like “Ahhh here you go!”
  • Quick Thinker: You must be able to think on your feet. You will be managing our online sales funnel and immersed in conversion data. You’ll need to be able to interpret available data, consider the available options and repercussions, and make decisions that determine our ability to onboard new customers in an ever-changing market.
  • Doer: You are going to be assigned projects and work on them independently.  Although we enjoy collaborating, we are not a culture of handholding and micromanaging, so if you said you’re going to get something done, no one is going to be checking in to make sure you did it or reminding you about it. You should just get it done. I'm looking for someone who is action-driven, not a procrastinator.
  • Passion: You absolutely ADORE what you do. This is important... No clockwatchers! Your focus needs to be on getting the job done--not getting the job done before the whistle blows. We are big proponents of work-life balance, and we live by that at REI. However, sometimes I have to sit and finish something after everyone is asleep so that I can push on our goals and deadlines... So you may also have to do the same. You will be at the leadership level for the company, and this is a big way to inspire commitment in others.
  • Grit: You know you can do anything you put your mind to and you will get there no matter how hard you have to work at it.
  • Accountability: You own your work, no matter how big or how small.
  • Curiosity: You know there’s always more to know, and a good day is when you’ve learned something new. This is key if you’re going to learn the “language” our customers speak and adapt our message to shifting markets. In the CRO world, your work is never done—there’s always room to improve, always something new to try. Curiosity is the fuel that powers success.
  • Team player: You understand that we're a team and success is a company KPI, NOT and individual accolade.
  • Trustworthy: For us to work well together, we need to be able to trust each other. You will be responsible for how we grow as a business in a big way, and I will rely on you for advice and expertise, so it’s important that we are upfront and honest with each other.
