Do you have a passion for working with children and the ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment for students with additional needs? We are seeking a SEND Learning and Teaching Assistant for a SEND school in Northumberland.

About the role

The best Learning and Teaching Assistants have excellent communication skills and are able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff, quickly and effectively.

You will be working with and supporting students aged 2-18 with a diagnosis of physical, medical, sensory needs and/or moderate learning difficulties. Previous experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs is desirable. You will assist the class teacher with recording and reporting on pupil progress and behaviour, and help ensure that children are making good progress in the classroom. You will promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils with a flexible approach to learning and a positive, friendly and understanding attitude towards children and young people with complex needs.

About the school

This is a designated SEND school that caters for pupils aged 2-18 years with physical, medical, sensory needs and/or moderate learning difficulties. The school wishes for all pupils to achieve their potential personally, socially. emotionally, physically and educationally.

Previous experience of working with children and young people is desirable

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

Recent and relevant experience of working with children or young people with special educational needs.
