Main Activities and Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning
Teach high-quality and successful lessons on Food & Nutrition up to GCSE.
A passion for the subject and the ability to share this with young people.
To understand and maintain Health & Safety of students studying Food and Nutrition when practical lessons are taking place.
Be a Form Tutor and/or Personal Adviser to students.
Contribute to the development of Schemes of Learning.
Plan and prepare lessons in line with departmental Schemes of Learning, using appropriate teaching methods and resources.
Excellent organisational and ICT skills.
The ability to motivate students and achieve excellent results.
An awareness of effective assessment and use of data to track student progress.
Mark and monitor students' class and homework providing constructive oral and written feedback, and setting targets for students' progress.
Monitor students from performance data.
Address underachievement through contributing to Academy strategy as well as developing and implementing department strategies and approaches.
Provide assessment to students and parents as required.
Fulfil reporting requirements.
Liaise with parents to ensure excellent attainment.
Support extended day activities to enhance students' learning experiences.
Manage the behaviour of students in classrooms and around the academy.
Understand and fulfil all the requirements of Academy polices.
Additional Responsibilities
The capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Ensure that an enterprising approach is adopted by all across the Academy.
Promote the Academy ethos in which the highest achievements are expected from all members of the Academy community.
Adhere at all times to professional business standards of dress, courtesy and efficiency in line with the ethos and specialism of the Academy.
Attend department and staff meetings.
Attend and participate in open evenings and parents' evenings.
Uphold the Academy's behaviour code and uniform regulations.
Be responsible for ensuring subject knowledge is developed and participate in staff training and development.
