Mechanical Assembly TechnicianLocation: Witney - Oxford 
Salary: Up to £36,000 (depending on experience in hydraulics and welding)
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday–Thursday: 7:30am–4:30pm Friday: 7:30am–2:00pm

OverviewA specialist engineering firm supplying to the global aviation sector is looking to hire a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join its team. The role involves hands-on mechanical assembly. This is an exciting opportunity for mechanically minded professionals—particularly those with experience in plant, HGV, military, or vehicle engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities
Assemble mechanical components and systems for bespoke refuelling vehicles

Interpret engineering drawings and schematics

Use a variety of hand and power tools including grinders, drills, and riveters

Perform basic fabrication as needed

Collaborate with team members to ensure builds meet required standards

Participate in confined space training and medical clearance for tank entry inspections

Essential Requirements
Experience in mechanical assembly (HGV, plant, or vehicle backgrounds preferred)

Proficient in using a range of hand and power tools

Basic fabrication skills

Able to read and interpret engineering drawings

Strong grasp of basic health & safety standards

Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle - due to location 

Good spoken and written English

Highly Desirable Experience
Hydraulic systems (strongly preferred)

Welding (TIG and/or MIG)

Pneumatic systems

Prior work with aircraft refuelling vehicles (not essential)

Salary Guidance
Up to £30,000 – Candidates with strong mechanical assembly background but limited hydraulic/welding experience

Up to £36,000 – Candidates with solid hands-on experience in both hydraulics and welding
