The Senior Operations Engineer provides technical support to the manufacturing teams. Partners with manufacturing engineering, operations excellence, and quality teams to troubleshoot, problem solve and drive continuous improvement throughout the facility. Our climate controlled 31,000 square foot facility in Chelsea, MI specializes in medical grade plastics machining and injection molding. The Senior Operations Engineer reports to the Operations Manager with dotted line reporting into Quality, Manufacturing or Operations Excellence Engineering. This role can have a hybrid remote/onsite schedule, or is welcome to be onsite full time.

Troubleshoot manufacturing processes at the shop floor level using knowledge of cutting tool applications, GD&T, and proficient use of precision measuring instruments

Lead or participate in Kaizen team projects utilizing lean manufacturing methodologies

Prepare and analyze data as requested for processes such as quality monitoring, KPI tracking and lean daily management

Create and revise standard work instructions and on the job training materials

Assist with the continued implementation of automation in the facility

Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS)

Support equipment and process validation activities

May design and manage the fabrication or acquisition of fixtures used in various processes including Machining, Molding, and/or Laser marking, etc. Ensure successful implementation of said fixtures on production floor

May create Laser Marking programs, 3D models, associated fixtures, drawings, templates, etc.

May support NPI projects being a key team member representing the shop floor

Lead project teams driving continuous improvement using approaches such as LEAN, DMAIC, A3, etc.



10+ Years of Experience in Engineering (Required), Experience in Medical Device Manufacturing, Experience Using CAD Software (Required)

Frequent and repetitive use of hands and fingers to operate machinery equipment

Requires frequent move about the shop floor to access machinery and parts

Requires remaining in stationary position for extended periods of time

Regularly works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times

Willing and able to work long hours including overtime as required
