Description

On behalf of our client an established telecom client working on nationwide projects we are looking for an Quantity Surveyor to work out of their office in Rotherham.

This is a full time, permanent role - salary negotiable dependent on experience. Our client are a fantastic company offering career development opportunities and a positive working environment.

Information about the specifics of the role and projects you will be working on will be given at interview stage.

Day to day tasks include:

Contributes to Bid activities, building pricing models for Target Cost and Fixed Price contracts, preparing tender returns and contract documents, including bills of quantities for all work streams
Assists Contract Managers and Senior Management to operate, maintain and report on financial matters relative to specific contracts
Produces reports and applications for payment, submitted within set deadlines
Manages sub-contractor approvals, allocates work to sub-contractors, produces sub-contractor payments and reports and maintains accurate records
Commercial management of projects, including cash flow forecasting and monitoring progress
Completes regular cost / value reconciliations (CVRs), analysing outcomes, effectively tracking variations and reporting on profitability
Attends weekly/monthly management meetings with clients in order to reduce outstanding balances and improve company cash flow position
Deals with payment discrepancies and outstanding balances on review of Statement of Accounts on a weekly basis for all work streams
Analyses and responds to commercial risks throughout the project cycle
Provides administration support to the existing commercial team, including entering relevant data into software systems and managing filing systemsSpecific Knowledge/Skills ad tasks

Contract Management

Management of the NEC3 ECC Option B contract with the client management
Timely notification and quotations of CEs leading to cost and time recovery
Management of the Cl.31 programme with the Operations team
Guide the operations team to adhere to all contractual requirements
Manage subcontractors
Full contract administration of the NEC3 contract, ensuring all delay damages/financial risk is mitigated prior to disputes arising
Dispute avoidance/management Financial Management

Assisting the Commercial Manager in Weekly P&L development
Application for Payment to the Client
Assessment of AfPs for Subcontractors
Management of WIP into Applications, and ultimately to cash receipts
Maximise value and minimise costs
Forecast of monthly, quarterly and annual revenue and budgets
Reporting Actuals v Budget
Capture of full value and conversion to cash
Minimise WIP/Debt position
Minimise/mitigate total risk exposureWhat we are looking for in a candidate:

Minimum 5 years experience as a QS/Junior QS/ Estimator
Telecoms experience on CityFibre and Virgin Media contracts advantageous OR experience within the utility sector would also be preferable
A Quantity Surveying degree/qualification would be advantageous but not a necessity
Excellent attention to detail problem solving, reading reports and accurately compiling relevant data from them.
Excellent knowledge of excel spread sheet systems
Strong numerical and financial management skills
Articulate and client facing
