Job description - the role

AMS is the world's leading provider of Talent Acquisition and Management Services. Our contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) service acts as an extension of our clients' recruitment team and provides professional interim and temporary resources. We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Airside Pavement Engineer for a 12-month contract based in Midlands/Manchester/Birmingham.

Candidate Profile: Key accountabilities, skills & experience

In this role you will:

The role will have a particular focus on pavement design; however, design of highways/ airfield and site development projects will also be covered.
You will assist in the production of drawings, specifications and reports to support the project team[s].
You will report to and support the Senior Engineer and with a focus on Aviation Pavements.
You will deliver the preliminary and detailed design in the airside infrastructure space. This will involve producing calculations, reports and drawings using your experience and knowledge of civil pavement design.
You will be an inquisitive and creative, solution-orientated yet collaborative individual to ensure the client is happy and the solution both high-quality and practical.
Knowledge and understanding of earthworks and pavement materials (Concrete, Asphalt and Hydraulically Bound Materials)
Extensive knowledge and understanding of pavement design principles (Flexible, Rigid and Composite Pavements).
Knowledge of development of the design strategy and pavement options to suit varying budgetary scenarios for both new construction and maintenance works.
Able to take responsibility for issuing work (design packages, drawing production, basic calculations, etc)
Knowledge and understanding of pavement design principles (Flexible, Rigid and Composite Pavements).

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Certified pavement Engineer as per CD 266
Membership, of an appropriate professional institution (ICE or CIHT).
Experience in analytical pavement design
You will have demonstrable previous experience in pavement design for infrastructure projects.
You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills (including formal and informal presentation, written communications and reports)
