Responsibilities:



Lead, manage and cultivate the Operations accounting staff including developing processes to meet objectives of the group.



Responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant accounting, including invoicing/settlement, monthly accrual entries, gross operating margin reporting, and variance analysis. To perform the role successfully the Operations Accounting Manager must be able to identify process improvement needs and solutions for all core applications and business processes related to the Gas Plant Processing and Allocation team. The Operations Accounting Manager should have experience in Waterfield, TIES, or TIPS or other similar applications. The applicant is required to set priorities and goals for the team that supports the strategic plan and direction of the accounting staff. Ensure proper reviews are in place and that no material weaknesses exist for SOX compliance.



Manage and develop team whose primary focus is to process plant allocations and all related payments and invoicing related to gross operating margin, to provide customer support for these activities and to report the financial recap for gas plant processing assets.

Support the implementation of a department wide process transformation that leverages existing reporting and allocation software solutions.

Ensure journal entries and other monthly close files are timely and accurately, prepared, reviewed and approved.

Oversee the preparation of monthly revenue and cost of sales analysis timely and accurately. This process includes accrued-to-actual variance analysis and prior period adjustment explanations for monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes.

Work closely with Asset Management and Analyst teams to ensure the results, and variances to budgets and forecast are adequately analyzed and explained on a monthly basis.

Instill confidence in team with respect to their understanding of the plant operations [or operating results?] to support interaction with the commercial group.

Facilitate and oversee the creation and maintenance of desk procedures and process workflow.

Coordinate and oversee 3rd party audits.

Set priorities and goals for the team that supports the strategic plan and direction of the Accounting group. Includes meeting with individual team members on a regular basis reviewing goals and performance objectives, providing feedback, direction and coaching to maximize performance of the team.

Demonstrate ability to understand and appropriately apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to financial transactions including documenting and communicating accounting decisions to management and external auditors.

Support and assist with department wide special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting or related field (MBA and/or CPA preferred)

5 or more years of accounting or finance experience in oil & gas accounting including 2 or more years’ experience in midstream gas plant settlements and allocations

Experience in direct management of accounting professionals

High initiative, motivated and a self-starter willing to work occasional overtime

Demonstrated experience with developing and implementing process improvements

Ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization

Excellent customer service orientation

Good organization and documentation skills

Ability to manage multiple projects or assignments simultaneously

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; demonstrate ability to research and correctly resolve complex accounting issues

Manage multi-high priority projects or assignments

Excel, TIES, Waterfield, and PeopleSoft experience preferred

Sound analytical thinking and decision making

Good inter-personal skills, team player, relates well with peers and supervisor

Build an effective team environment by providing good work direction, and coaching

Manage multiple high priority projects or assignments
