Front Door Service Manager for Westminster - The Access Team 4 Frampton Street, London NW8 8LF What is attractive about this role? Why would someone come and work with you? An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen within Westminster's 'Outstanding' Access Team - this is the first point of contact for safeguarding referrals regarding children. The Access Team provides a quick and effective safeguarding response to referrals of concern for children within Westminster. In this role you will benefit from a hybrid working model that will enable you to divide your time between the office and home on a rota system. You will be talking to families and professionals, gathering and analysing information, to ensure children are safeguarded and support offered at the earliest opportunity. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual looking to develop different skills in risk analysis and help to participate in the on-going development of the service. You will have regular reflective supervision with your line manager and monthly group supervision with the rest of the team. Social Workers have regular case consultations with our systemic clinicians inhouse Family to help them think through complex cases. SW's have a good work/life balance We adopt a child focused approach to our work to help us to have a better understanding of a child's lived experience so we can make sure families get the right level of support Social Workers are creative in how they engage families, some SW's are highly skilled in writing therapeutic letters to parents, young people and families. What is the make up of the team and why do they like working in this area? Small team consisting of 2 Deputy Service Managers, 5 Social workers, and 2 information and access officers SW's report that they have excellent management support, SW's feel listened to and there is a learning culture within the team In this team SW's are highly skilled at risk assessing and responding to crisis What if any challenges are within the role? (Stakeholders, case load, working hours) The Access Team is often the first point of contact that families have with social care and therefore some of those initial conversations can be challenging so you need to be a highly skilled communicator who is able to be open and transparent with families. It is also important that you are able to challenge referrers where appropriate, ensuring that they have adequately shared their concerns with families and are clear with families about why they have made a referral.
