Description

Responsible for completing and supervising maintenance tasks on production equipment to keep machines running safely and efficiently.



Safety:



The Master Mechanic will be responsible for individual compliance with all safety rules, regulations and policy procedures. Employee responsibilities include but are not limited to:



Compliance with all facility safety rules and regulations.



Reporting any unsafe practices and/or conditions to their supervisor.



Maintaining floor safety discipline by interceding with fellow employees, who may engage in rule violations and/or unsafe, unhealthy activities.



Communicating to management those employees who persist in violations of safety rules and/or procedures.



Wearing required personal protective equipment properly and reporting any defective PPE.



Reporting all near misses, accidents, injuries or illnesses, including Muscular Skeletal symptoms or disorders.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



Master Mechanic performs general maintenance tasks in production areas.



Master Mechanic is responsible for knowing all facets and procedures of plant operations.



Master Mechanic diagnoses and repairs faulty production and related plant equipment with no supervision by using the provided schematics and drawings.



Master Mechanic is responsible for having all tools needed to perform tasks.



Qualifications:



For knowledge statements, according to the Uniform Section Guidelines issued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the following definitions of knowledge are:



Basic: General familiarity; awareness of universal principles and able to locate details/access resources. Individual has an understanding of a determinate number of functions or activities.



Solid: Working knowledge; able to apply general principles. Individual has an understanding of most functions, operations or activities, including a general knowledge of applicable theory.



Expert: Able to apply general principles and specific details. Individual has an understanding of virtually all functions, operations or activities, including full comprehension of applicable theory.



Education: Solid -- Individual has obtained a Bachelors degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



Language Skills: Expert -- Individual has the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Individual can respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Individual can write speeches and articles for publication that conform to a prescribed style and format with the ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.



Mathematical Skills: Solid -- Individual has the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Individual can apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



Reasoning Ability: Expert -- Individual has the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Individual can interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.



Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: No certificates, licenses, or registrations required to perform Master Mechanic job.



Physical Requirements:



Standing: 4-8 Hours



Walking: 8-12 Hours



Sitting: 1-4 Hours



Using Controls/Tools: 4-8 Hours



Reach -- ( Hands & Arms ): 1-4 Hours



Climb or Balance: 1-4 Hours



Stoop, Kneel, Crouch, or Crawl: 1-4 Hours



Talk or Hear: 1-4 Hours



Ability to Lift: 50 Pounds



Visual Requirements:



Individual must have close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).



Individual must have distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).



Individual must have color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).



Individual must have depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).



Individual must have the ability adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).



General Work Environment:



Master Mechanic will spend 4-8 hours working in wet or humid conditions.



Master Mechanic will spend 8-12 hours working near moving mechanical parts.



Master Mechanic will spend 8-12 hours working in high, precarious places.



Master Mechanic will spend 4-8 hours working near fumes or airborne particles.



Master Mechanic will spend 1-4 hours working near toxic or caustic chemicals.



Master Mechanic will spend 4-8 hours working in outdoor weather conditions.



Master Mechanic will spend 4-8 hours working in extreme heat.



Master Mechanic will spend 4-8 hours working with a risk of electrical shock.



Master Mechanic will spend 4-8 hours working near vibration.



Master Mechanic will be working in a loud manufacturing environment.



Additional Information:



Master Mechanic will occasionally be working in the Production area.



Master Mechanic is responsible for completing assigned tasks with no supervision.



Master Mechanic serves as a positive role model for all other mechanics.



Master Mechanic is required to do any task assigned by a supervisor as long as it doesnt put the employee in an unsafe position (i.e. performing a task for which the employee is not qualified).
