Summary About the Position: This position is located at the US Army Installation Management Command, USAG Fort Hood, Directorate of Emergency Services Fort Hood, Texas. Note: This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 1 year and may be extended up to a maximum of three years. For more on temporary appointments review the additional information. Responsibilities Serve as a shift supervisor of police officers and security officers in the Law Enforcement Division conducting law enforcement and security/access control operations. Ensure emergency responses by military police, fire and emergency services personnel are dispatched in accordance with installation requirements. Serve as Watch Commander with responsibility for directing military police (MP) patrols and coordinating the overall law enforcement program for the installation. Ensure effective operation of the automated military Offense Reporting System (ORS) and the subsequent generation of reports, forms, and records. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes coordinating police unit response to crimes in progress and performing traffic patrols or emergency response duties such as enforcing speed limits, directing traffic, issuing citations for speeding/parking, etc. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). This position is obligated. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration return rights based on active military service, compensable injury or disability when fully recovered, or return rights based on having served on an overseas tour(s). When an obligated position is filled, the selected employee is required to sign an agreement acknowledging the position obligation. This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition. (False or fraudulent information provided by candidates is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment per 18 U.S.C. Section 1001). The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. The incumbent must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General has been received.
