We are seeking a passionate and skilled Senior HMI Engineer to join our automotive client based in Leicestershire. This role is part of the Electrical and Electronic Systems department and plays a key role in delivering innovative, rider-focused technology.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and development of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), from early concept stages through to production, ensuring seamless integration of UX and UI principles.

Responsibilities:

* Lead HMI UX and UI feature development through the full design lifecycle.

* Develop detailed HMI requirements, prototypes, and production-ready designs.

* Collaborate with Model-Based Systems Engineering and Product Planning teams.

* Produce engineering deliverables such as wireframes, logic layers, and state diagrams.

* Create and maintain low/high-fidelity prototypes and conduct stakeholder reviews.

* Ensure HMI design aligns with software development constraints through regular cross-functional engagement.

* Conduct benchmarking activities and support specification documentation.

* Contribute to proof-of-concept demonstrations for internal approvals.

* Engage with third-party suppliers and manage component-level interactions.

* Prepare and present technical materials for non-technical stakeholders.

Who We Are Looking For:

* A degree in Product Design, UX/UI, HMI, HCI, Human Factors, or a related field (or equivalent apprenticeship).

* Strong understanding of UX design principles and full UX lifecycle.

* Hands-on experience in HMI/UX design (2–5 years preferred).

* Skilled in Adobe XD, Figma, Illustrator, or similar tools.

* Proven ability to develop detailed HMI specifications and graphical assets.

* Experience working in cross-functional teams, including suppliers.

* Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

* Capable of creating engaging visuals and interactive prototypes.

It Would Be An Asset If You Also Have:

* Experience within the automotive sector and awareness of associated design constraints.

* Understanding of Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE).

* Exposure to full product development lifecycle from concept to launch.

* Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple levels of the organization.

* Continuous improvement mindset with a logical approach to problem-solving.
