Production Planner 

Role Overview

On behalf of our client, an Automotive manufacturer, we are currently recruiting a Production Planner to join their team in Pontypool. This role sits within the Planning department and is central to ensuring smooth coordination of vehicle receipting, despatch, and production scheduling. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records in the MRP system, driving adherence to the production plan, and supporting business reporting through effective logistics and planning control.

Key Activities

- Managing the full process of receipting and despatching vehicles, supported by a direct report assisting in vehicle movement.

- Inspecting inbound vehicles for defects using scanning/reporting systems and managing defect notifications via customer portals.

- Maintaining accurate records of vehicle movements, inspections, and deliveries across databases and the MRP system (EPICOR).

- Conducting outgoing inspections of vehicles, escalating quality issues where required.

- Ensuring all system transactions, including updates to customer and dealer portals, are completed in a timely manner.

- Liaising with OEM logistics teams to confirm vehicle ETAs and support production alignment.

- Arranging vehicle collections and managing customer transportation requirements.

- Providing data-driven insights and recommendations to support strategic planning.

- Creating and maintaining internal production orders in the MRP system in line with the daily schedule.

Skills & Experience

- Proven experience in logistics, planning, or production control roles.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, and experienced in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., EPICOR).

- Familiarity with production lead times and scheduling constraints.

- Continuous improvement/Lean qualifications (desirable).

- Experience supporting value stream improvements and identifying root causes of delays (desirable).

Package

- Salary: £34,000 - £36,000 p/a

- Shift: Primarily day shift

- 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
