Overview:

Sales Manager will promote and book events for the facility through an aggressive marketing and sales program. To work with the client on initial rates and terms of the contract and to convey that information to other necessary facility staff to further work effectively with the client.

Responsibilities:

Represents the facility as its primary sales representative both locally and out-of-town.



Researches, identifies, and establishes the appropriateness of groups for the facility



Contacts prospective user groups and individuals to initiate the sales effort



Discusses the facility with site selection committees



Assists in developing and implementing the sales/marketing activities of the facility including developing budget submissions and follow-through systems and procedures



Meets specified goals and objectives for facility usage



Fosters coordinated sales efforts with other members of the citys hospitality industry and maintains effective relations with representatives of local and user groups



Communicates problems and proposed solutions to AGM/Director of Convention Services



Submits regular activity reports



Ensure appropriate scheduling balance between conferences of outside groups and appropriate community cultural groups



Establish/develop selective selling techniques for scheduling groups during dates most beneficial to the local visitor economy



Prepare and deliver verbal presentations to groups and audiences of various size and backgrounds



Establish and maintain effective relationships with representatives of local and user groups



Prepare various reports, correspondence, memoranda, agreements and budget projections with accuracy and details for internal/external customers.



Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal/external clients



Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university with emphasis in Hospitality Management, Sales/Marketing, Business Administration, or other related fields.



Minimum 3-5 years of increasingly responsible sales experience preferably in convention center or hotel setting.



Self-motivated with excellent organization skills



Strong interpersonal skills necessary, including excellent verbal and written communication



Proven knowledge in sales techniques and engaged in similar group business-solicitation efforts



Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing



Ability to safely and accurately handle and account for large sums of money



Possess valid driver’s license or have the ability to acquire



Must be available to work long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.



Knowledge of trace file system and other procedures used in group solicitation efforts



Ability to formulate and implement an effective overall sales/marketing plan



Ability to work independently and as part of a team



Demonstrated ability to commit group bookings of the appropriate quality and quantity for the facility



Demonstrated ability to make verbal presentations to groups of various sizes
